Chicago Riverwalk
Chicago is a big city worth exploring every block and building for its rich history. The Chicago Riverwalk is a gateway to exploring everything—past and present—that makes this city so special. Take a stroll along the Riverwalk as you explore local art exhibits or gaze upon iconic architecture from the deck of the Chicago First Lady Cruise.
You can also hit the water yourself and explore at your own pace via kayak. The Chicago Riverwalk is full of bars and restaurants that’ll keep your curiosity fueled. But the best part about the Riverwalk is that it costs you nothing to enter—you just need to find suitable Riverwalk parking.
Location
As you would have guessed, the Chicago Riverwalk is located on the Chicago River. But how do you access it? First things first, you need to cross the Dusable Bridge to get to the entry point. Depending on where you’re coming from, you may notice restaurants like Sweet Water Tavern, Chicago Burger Company, or Stetsons Steak and Sushi. If you see any of these places, you’re heading in the right direction. Of course, you’ll also know you are close when you can see the river. It should be easy to find the entry point from there.
Look for the Chicago Riverwalk’s clearly marked entry points and watch your step as you descend the step before reaching the riverwalk. It’s free to enter and full of amazing sights and things to do.
Parking
There isn’t a more scenic walkway in all of Chicago that can outdo the Riverwalk. But to get there, you’ll need to find parking first. Although there is no official Chicago Riverwalk Parking, there are a few places nearby that should do the trick.
Your first and closest option is to head to 60 E Lake St., where you’ll find parking garages and lots. Find a space to park, and you will be roughly an 8-minute walk from the river. Another option that’s close by is the Wabash-Randolph parking garage, a 10-minute walk from the Chicago Riverwalk. Both options offer a reasonable distance to such an iconic piece of Chicago.
